Latest Burnley transfer is ‘done’ – Player now expected to sign four-year contract
Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge is on his way to Burnley, according to reports today.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb writes that the 25-year-old’s move Turf Moor is now ‘done’.
Burnley are reportedly signing him on a permanent deal, paying Sheffield United €17m plus performance bonuses. A four-year contract with the Clarets is waiting for Berge.
It’s been three and a half years since the Blades signed the player from KRC Genk, with them paying €25m to buy him in January 2020.
Berge had 109 appearances for Sheffield United, with 15 goals and 12 assists, and became a very important player in their recent rise to the Premier League.
Burnley, meanwhile, continue to build an exciting squad to play under Vincent Kompany, making a big investment since their Championship title.
Prior to this deal for Berge, they had already spent over €65m on signings this summer, with the arrivals of Zeki Amdounni, James Trafford, Jordan Bbeyer, Dara O’Shea, Michael Obagemi and Luca Koleosho.
The Clarets also agreed the arrivals of Nathan Redmond, Lawrence Vigouroux and Jacob Brunn Larsen on free transfers.
