Leicester City striker dominoes set to fall as Championship rivals have ‘bid accepted’
Latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive amid the Foxes’ interest in Swansea City striker Joel Piroe
Swansea have reportedly had a bid for Blackpool striker Jerry Yates accepted amid doubts over the future of Joel Piroe who has been linked with a move to Leicester City.
Piroe has scored 41 goals in two seasons in the Championship since arriving at the Welsh club in July 2021 from PSV Eindhoven.
His performances in English football’s second tier have alerted the Foxes to him as new boss Enzo Maresca looks to rebuild City in his attempts to take Leicester straight back up to the top flight.
And BBC Sport have reported that Swansea are set to sign Yates after having a bid for the striker accepted, in a potential boost to the Foxes’ hopes of signing Piroe. The report states that the bid is “substantial” which indicates that they could be preparing for Piroe’s departure.
Previous reports have indicated that City are not the only side interested in acquiring the Dutchman’s signature this summer. An unnamed Serie A side are also said to be “in the running”.
Southampton are another team claimed to have shown interest and Premier League sides Everton and Nottingham Forest are also said to have made “tentative enquiries”.
Piroe told Eindhovens Dagblad in May: “Whether I will stay in Swansea for another year? There is a lot of speculation, but it remains to be seen whether something concrete will happen.
“It is nice to hear that clubs are interested. I mainly look at where I can play a lot and continue to take steps as a football player.”
