‘OUTSTANDING’ CHELSEA PLAYER FANCIES A MOVE TO TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is reportedly open to a move to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Chelsea are willing to sell Conor Gallagher for £50 million, with Tottenham Hotspur interested in the midfielder.
West Ham United have also been linked with the 23-year-old.
Bailey has said that although Gallagher is not actively pushing to leave Chelsea, he would fancy a move to Tottenham if he did have to move.
The reporter has added that Tottenham do not want to pay £50 million to London and Premier League rivals Chelsea for the youngster.
Bailey said about Gallagher, as transcribed by TBR “Chelsea are, I wouldn’t say they are open to it, but if someone is willing to pay £50m for Conor Gallagher they’re willing to sell.
“That is the word we’re hearing. I don’t think Gallagher is busting a gut to get out at the moment, but with the clubs linked he probably fancies Tottenham, from what we’re hearing, but Tottenham aren’t paying £50m for Conor Gallagher, nobody is.”
Conor Gallagher should stay at Chelsea
In our opinion, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher should stay at the club for at least another season and work with Mauricio Pochettino.
We know from Pochettino’s time as the Tottenham Hotspur head coach that he works wonders with young and talented players and makes them better.
Gallagher has come through the Chelsea academy, and perhaps under Pochettino, he could establish himself as a key figure in the first team.
The 23-year-old, who was described as “extraordinary and outstanding” by former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel on the club’s official website in April 2022 while he was on loan at Crystal Palace, can operate in central midfield, in a more advanced position or out wide.
The midfielder has made 99 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
Gallagher has scored 13 goals and given six assists in those games.
