JUST IN: Reactions from Ohio State football fans following the return of their injured defensive starters

How soon will Ohio State football’s injured defensive starters return?

COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the first time, Ohio State football coach Ryan Day gave a hint at the timeline for one of his injured defensive starters.

Following a 38-3 victory over Michigan State, Day said both linebacker Tommy Eichenberg and safety Josh Proctor were expected back soon. However, he classified safety Lathan Ransom’s absence as “more long term.”

Ransom has not played since suffering an apparent lower-leg injury in an Oct. 28 win at Wisconsin. The second-year starter was seen on a knee scooter prior to Saturday’s game.

Eichenberg missed the first game of his Buckeye career. Day called him week to week, but in contrast to Ransom, called it a not long-term injury.

“We feel like we’re going to get him back real soon,” Day said, adding that Proctor is on a similar timetable.
Ohio State plays only two more regular-season games: Saturday at home against Minnesota and Nov. 25 at Michigan.
