SPURS FORWARD GUNNING-WILLIAMS JOINS IPSWICH TOWN ON LOAN

Tottenham Hotspur forward Lenna Gunning-Williams has joined FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club Ipswich Town on a season-long loan deal.

The Lilywhites confirmed the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Gunning-Williams has come through the Spurs academy system and she made her senior debut for the club in a FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage match against Coventry United last season. The youngster came off the bench to score in that match as Spurs recorded a 5-1 victory.

The forward went on to make two further substitute appearances for Spurs during the remainder of the season while she was involved in a handful of matchday squads.

Gunning-Williams cannot be guaranteed regular minutes at Spurs this season therefore the club have allowed the player to join third tier side Ipswich Town on loan to further her development. The player joins an Ipswich Town side that have challenged for promotion to the elite game in recent seasons.

Commenting on the arrangement, Tottenham Hotspur’s assistant head coach Vicky Jepson said “We’re really pleased to have agreed this opportunity for Lenna.

“We are balancing her training schedule between clubs so she can continue to get exposure to WSL training levels with us while also training and playing with Ipswich, being part of their game preparation sessions and matchdays.
