Latest Leicester City news as Enzo Maresca shares an update on the Foxes walking wounded ahead of the game against Swansea after the international break

Leicester City are on the right side of the international break as they return to Championship action this weekend.

City travel to South Wales to take on Swansea City on Saturday afternoon, with Enzo Maresca preparing his squad for the game. It’s the start of another busy run of fixtures for the team, with the game against Swansea quickly followed by a midweek home clash vs Sunderland and then an away trip to Queens Park Rangers.

City will be hoping to still be at the top of the table after the run of fixtures. They currently sit two points clear of second-placed Ipswich and 10 points clear of Preston North End in third.

Kasey McAteer

The academy graduate has been one of the standout players of the season so far. The 21-year-old has scored five goals in all competitions as he establishes himself in City’s first team.

McAteer came on as a second-half substitute in the 4-1 win over Blackburn but lasted just 18 minutes after picking up a hamstring injury. He has missed the last two Championship games.

What Maresca has said: “It will be between four and six weeks,” he said. “We are unhappy because he was doing very well. He is a great guy, happy and hungry. It’s a shame for him. It’s just for six weeks, but probably it’s a good time for him to have some rest after a good start. He will be back soon with us.”

Possible return date: vs QPR (28 October)

Callum Doyle

Doyle was taken off at half time of the clash with Bristol City. He was seen after the game leaving the King Power Stadium on crutches and with his knee in a brace. The defender has since undergone an operation.

What Maresca has said: “It will be between 12 and 16 weeks,” Maresca said on Doyle. “I said in the press conference before Liverpool that he is the only player, being left-footed… We have been unlucky.

“We have Wilfred and Cesare, Kiernan and Yunus, Jamie and Kele, Abdul, Macca, Stephy, Marc, many wingers, but in that position, he was the only one, so we have been unlucky. We will try to find a solution. Against Liverpool, JJ did very well, the same against Bristol City. He could be a solution.”

Possible return date: vs Huddersfield (1 January)

Dennis Praet

The midfielder has missed the last seven games in all competitions with a back injury. He picked up the problem in the lead-up to the Championship clash against Huddersfield last month.

What Maresca has said: “It’s an important injury,” he said at the start of the month. “It’s probably between 10 and 12 weeks. It’s his back.”

Possible return date: vs Watford (H) November 25
