‘Fantastic since day one’ – Leicester City boss hails ‘unbelievable’ summer signing
Leicester City made a number of summer signings, with just about all of them proving to be quality signings.
Leicester City find themselves top of the Championship table after the opening 12 games of the season, with the Foxes having won 11 of those to give themselves an 11 point gap to Leeds United in 3rd
The Foxes have had some standout performers in the side this season in names like Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Harry Winks to name a just a couple.
But boss Enzo Maresca has spoken fondly of Conor Coady despite the defender’s lack of game time this season; he joined from Wolves in the summer but injury kept him sidelined for the first part of the campaign.
Since, the 30-year-old has made three Championship appearances for the Foxes, with Maresca recently singing Coady’s praise. The Italian told talkSPORT:
“He’s been unbelievable. Unfortunately, he has been injured for a long time; two months. Now he’s back with us, but he has been fantastic since day one. He helps everyone, talking every time, in terms of leadership at the top.”
To date, Coady has 176 Premier League appearances to his name, and 170 in the Championship. He made more than 300 total appearances for Wolves having previously earned Championship promotion with the club back in 2018
Strength in depth…
Although Coady isn’t playing that often right now, having someone with his experience and pedigree can only be beneficial to the side and to the younger players in the group too.
And being able to call upon a player like Coady shows the impressive squad depth that Maresca and Leicester City have this season, which has allowed them to rotate quality players and maintain this current vein of form.
The Foxes are next in action against Sunderland tonight and with a congested fixture list over the next few weeks, Coady could be getting some game time with the Foxes.
