Hull City boss Liam Rosenior explains Matt Ingram absence at Millwall

The experienced goalkeeper was absent for a very special reason

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has explained why goalkeeper Matt Ingram was not in the squad for Saturday’s thrilling 2-2 draw with Millwall at The Den.

Rosenior says he gave Ingram compassionate leave to be wife Amelia at the birth of their baby boy, George, after telling the experienced shot-stopper he would not start the game in South London, with Ryan Allsop preferred in between the posts.

Ingram was one of four key absentees with skipper Lewie Coyle, Regan Slater and Ozan Tufan all sidelined, although the trio were missing through injury as City came from a goal down early on to lead 2-1 thanks to strikes from Jaden Philogene and Adama Traore, before Joe Bryan thumped in an equaliser in the second half.

His baby was born late last night – George,” a beaming City boss told Hull Live. “We celebrated that in our team meeting today (Saturday). It’s family first for me. He’s obviously not starting the game so he can spend time with his family.

“It’s one of those moments, your first child being born and I’m delighted for him and the beautiful family he’s created.”

City return to action on Saturday week after the international break when they host Southampton at the MKM Stadium.
