The game was eventually cut short and did not restart after players left the pitch following an incident said to involve a supporter

There was a major delay to a Lincoln City game tonight (Tuesday, October 3) – which ended in the football match being cut short and not restarting. Players left the pitch after a “medical emergency” in the stands.

A post on Lincoln City FC’s official account on X, formerly known as Twitter, said the emergency – involving a supporter – happened in the 87th minute. This was while the team were 1-0 down to Leyton Orient away at the East London club’s Brisbane Road ground.

“There will be a delay due to a medical emergency in the stands,” the initial post said at 9.35pm. “We wish the Orient supporter a speedy recovery.”

A few minutes later Lincoln City issued an update, saying: “The players are now going back into the changing rooms while the supporter receives treatment beside the pitch. We will update supporters with further information when we have it.”

Then at 10.25pm another post said: “Tonight’s match at Brisbane Road will not be restarted due to the ongoing medical emergency. All our thoughts are with the Orient supporter at this time.”
