Mark Robins has been boosted by the news that “one or two” of his injured Coventry City players are not going to be out for as long as first feared. The Sky Blues boss revealed earlier this week that the initial prognosis for Ben Sheaf, Kasey Palmer (both adductor strains) and Milan van Ewijk (quad tear) was that they’d all be out for six-to eight weeks.

However, asked in today’s pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s trip to Queens Park Rangers if any of his injured personnel are closer to being available, he revealed: “Yes, there are a few more positive signs, so I’m sort of hopeful on that. Tomorrow is too soon for them but, certainly from next week, I am hopeful that we will start to see one or two coming back.”

Asked who is closest, he added: “I’ll let you know next week. I’m hopeful but, again, they have got to come through a process. I am reliant on the messages I’m getting in from the medical department, and also the information I’m getting from the players themselves is more positive. So let’s see.

far too soon for the attacking midfielder to be involved, with the likelihood that he’ll be given a run out in the Under-21s before making the first team bench after being out for nine months with a ruptured ACL.
