Mark Robins: Coventry City boss signs new contract after approach from Sunderland - BBC Sport

Following the confirmation of injury timetables, Mark Robins acknowledges Coventry City’s “dilemma” as he announces three of his key players will be off for up to two months.

Injuries to three of the team’s key players will keep them out for up to two months, according to Coventry City manager Mark Robins. The playmaker Kasey Palmer, who suffered the same adductor rip injury as significant midfielder Ben Sheaf, is the most recent Sky Blues victim.

Along with that, Milan van Ewijk tore his quadriceps against Cardiff on Tuesday night. On Friday, it was unknown how long the wing-back would be out injured, but scan findings have now shown that he will be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

Robins, cursing and lamenting City’s misfortune, provided this explanation for Palmer’s exclusion from the matchday squad on Monday night: “Kasey is injured and going to be out for six to eight weeks. I’m not sure when he tore his adductors, but he has one. The injury is identical to Ben Sheaf’s. I’m not sure when he did it in a game, but he has. Ben finished it during training. In a game, Milan completed his.

After Coventry City experience late agony at the CBS Arena, Mark Robins makes a ‘difficult’ revelation.

“They are talking six-eight weeks for all three of them, so there’s the dilemma. If you lose three key players from the squad it causes you an issue. But we’re going to have to deal with it.”

Elsewhere, the City manager revealed that striker Haji Wright was also carrying a ‘knock’ from the Cardiff game, albeit the USA international able to make the matchday squad against Huddersfield on Monday night when he contributed from the bench in the 1-1 CBS Arena draw.

“Haji got a whack on his hamstring last week and missed training but then came back and has trained for a couple of days,” he said. “But I just decided I was going to start Ellis in this one. And I thought he did pretty well, looked quite sharp in there and deserved his start.”
