MLB Insider Proposes Wild Blockbuster Trade With Yankees For Juan Soto, Other All-Stars

Put this one under an alternate reality.

Juan Soto. The team has been contemplating moving him this winter before he enters into the final year of his contract.

The New York Yankees have been the team most linked in a potential Soto deal, and they could use his left-handed power bat in their lineup. New York could also use the star power, and they have been itching to make a splash of late.

MLB insider Joel Sherman of The New York Post discussed a wild trade proposal between the Padres and Yankees involving Soto and other All-Stars.

Yankees Slugger Floated As Possible Trade Candidate For Superstar Juan Soto - Sports Illustrated NY Yankees News, Analysis and More

In the deal, Sherman has San Diego sending Soto, first baseman Jake Cronenworth and starting pitcher Yu Darvish to New York. They would be getting back some prospects and slugger Giancarlo Stanton.

While it looks like a fleece for the Yankees, the Padres would heavily shed salary and would set themselves up nicely to be aggressive wherever else they wanted.

They would get off the contract of Darvish and Cronenworth but would inherit Stanton’s deal. He had a few more years left on his contract before the Padres could cut ties, but it would be substantially cheaper for them in the long run.
