More Details Emerge Into Shock Imps Decision
It’s fair to say plenty of people were shocked at the decision to relieve Mark Kennedy of his duties, and as expected, more details are emerging 24 hours after the move.
Liam Scully has revealed on BBC Radio Lincolnshire that results were not the reason Kennedy was relieved of his duties and that the recent situation around midfielder Danny Mandroiu was.
As we know, Mandroiu was sent off for a horror tackle against Burton but was subsequently hung out to dry by his head coach after the game. It seems that was part of the reason behind Kennedy leaving the club.
“One thing I can say, and please, let’s not let this run away, but I don’t think it was helpful in terms of our characterisation of Danny Mandroiu after the game,” Liam said. “Is that part of it? Yes. Is that the reason? No.”
That in itself is interesting, that whilst results were not the reason behind the decision, the Mandroiu factor was part of the issue. Meaning there was more.
“I keep going back to it, and I know I will bore people saying this, but there are many different facets and parts of this,” added Liam.
“This is looking at it from an elevated pitch, the progress that we are making and not necessarily the progress we have made so far, but how do we hit the measures we would like to achieve going forward?
“And fundamentally that was why we felt it was in the best interests of all parties.”
In other news, a statement from Mark has been published by the club’s official media. In it, he thanks supporters for their backing during his time at Sincil Bank and states he left the club in better shape than he found it. That certainly isn’t in dispute.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Lincoln City, and I am extremely proud of the progress we have made during these 17 months.
We went on a fantastic journey last season to achieve the club’s second-highest league finish in 40 years, and I believe we have left the team in a better place than when we arrived, and that is something we can all be proud of.
The squad has a strong foundation to continue to go from strength to strength, and I sincerely hope that happens. I would like to thank everyone associated with Lincoln City for giving me this opportunity – Clive Nates, all the staff and players, and a massive thank you, of course, to the fans for their amazing support throughout my time here. Your backing has meant everything, and we hope that you are happy with our work on behalf of your team.
I am looking ahead now to my next challenge, but I wish everyone at Lincoln all the best for the rest of this season and beyond, and I hope our paths will cross again in the future.
