Hallam Hope is delighted to be back in the matchday squad under Interim Manager Steve Thompson.
The forward has had limited game time so far this season, but believes he has a part to play under the new management.
Latics travel to Kidderminster tomorrow after back-to-back wins and Hope wants to use those results as a springboard for further progress.
“Thommo’s been in charge now for two games and we’ve had two clean sheets and two wins which you can’t argue with,” he said.
“It’s been really nice to play a part in it, you can feel the positivity around the place and see the quality that this squad has to offer so it’s great that it’s finally clicking on the pitch.
“Thommo has been really positive, he’s told us to go and play with smiles on our faces and I think you can see how much we are enjoying our football.
”
As a player who has had a frustrating start to the season, the Barbados international is eager to show what he can bring to the table going forward.
“It’s obviously not gone how I wanted it to go so far, but I’m looking forward to building on performances now and fighting for a place in the team,” he reflected.
“I’ve waited patiently this season for an opportunity so now I’m determined to make the most of it.
“Confidence is high and there’s so much belief around the place, not just from myself but the whole of the squad and now it’s just about keeping this going .”
Hallam also believes that consistency is key now for Latics’ and the togetherness of the squad will drive the team going forward.
He said: “We have to keep this going, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets should become a habit for us in order for us to push up the league, which is where we deserve to be.
“People are fighting for the shirt, which they should be, especially with this team, but it’s such a great group of lads.
“Games are coming thick and fast so it’s a real opportunity for us to climb the table, we have one goal as a squad now and that’s to win football games.”
