Manager confirms 24-year-old will be unable to face Everton, Dyche bid for him in the summer

Everton are set to face Bournemouth in a crucial clash near the bottom of the table, but they will not be coming up against a player they could have signed this summer.

It was reported in the summer transfer window that Everton had made two bids for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams, with both offers being rejected by the relegated side.

The 24-year-old then joined Bournemouth towards the end of the window, but the USA international has made just one appearance for the Cherries.

The defensive midfielder will not be appearing at Goodison Park tomorrow, in what Everton may consider something of an advantage given his quality.

Adams to miss Everton visit

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, manager Andoni Iraola revealed that Adams was not yet ready to feature, with Bournemouth yet to win this season heading into the crunch game.

“With Tyler, we don’t expect him soon. We are asking different specialists to take the best route we can. We still haven’t decided, but whatever the solution we take, we don’t expect him soon on the pitch,” he stated.

“It’s a problem with the same hamstring that he arrived with.”

Although it is early days for him at Bournemouth, and his start has been disrupted by injury, Everton may later come to bemoan missing out on the midfielder.

Adams can play both as a deep midfielder as well as a fullback, and he could have been perfect for Sean Dyche’s midfield.

Dyche’s emphasis on physicality makes Adams a near-perfect fit for this Everton side, and he could have been an upgrade on Idrissa Gana Gueye at the base of midfield, as well as covering at right-back.

Everton won’t yet get a taste of what they missed out on given his injury, but over the course of the season his quality may become apparent and he could help Bournemouth gain points to help them climb the table.
