The referee was resolute in his actions and couldn’t have been in a better position to render the decision, which in my opinion was accurate, says Foy.
Because there was a lunging challenge with the leading left leg making a high, full, and powerful contact with the opponent’s right calf, plainly jeopardizing his safety, it meets all the criteria for a serious foul play offense and should result in a red card.
