George Lapslie, a forward for Gillingham, left the game on Saturday with an injury after scoring against Morecambe.

George Lapslie looked the part before and throughout the game against Morecambe, so Gillingham is hoping that his most recent injury absence is only short.

After missing two weeks due to a concussion, Lapslie struggled to play at his best against Harrogate the previous week. However, he was at his best in practice prior to the Morecambe game, and he scored just 10 minutes into the game. He then came dangerously close to adding another goal moments later as he stayed alert to any chance in the box.

Gillingham must be more ruthless, according to more.

After gaining possession to assist in the Gills’ second goal in minute 23, he pulled up with a hamstring strain, dealing a severe blow to the Gills.

Although the team has several of attacking alternatives, manager Neil Harris believes Lapslie is the team’s top goal scorer.

I genuinely thought on Thursday and Friday (in training) that he started to look the part again, better than at any point from the beginning of preseason onward.

He is a vital member of our team. George is a player who responds best to minimal coaching; you just let him run; like a Duracell battery, he runs and runs until he emerges in the proper spot.

Macauley Bonne is the team’s natural goal scorer, but George provides a true goalscoring danger, as we saw when he consistently appeared at the ideal moment over the past three or four years.

“It’s crucial that we acquire him and maintain him in shape.

He appeared to be really quick, and his movement and ball handling were superb. He and Macauley appeared to be a very dangerous duo.

“George Lapslie going off was a major loss for us, showing how important he is to the team because the game changed once he went off,” the coach said. “Hopefully we get him back sooner rather than later.”
