Steelers elevate LB from the practice squad ahead of Week 12
The Pittsburgh Steelers have elevated LB Tariq Carpenter to the active roster from the practice squad ahead of Week 12’s matchup with the Bengals, the team announced Saturday.
Carpenter has been active for each of the past two weeks, with all of his 21 snaps over those two games coming on special teams. Each of his opportunities has come on kick and punt returns ahead of Week 12, notching 1 assisted tackle over those 21 opportunities. The team stated the expectation for Carpenter to return to the practice squad following Sunday’s game.
Fans will note that LB Myles Jack will not be promoted to the active roster ahead of Sunday’s game, having officially rejoined the Steelers via the practice squad this past Monday. Jack played for the Steelers through the 2022 NFL season but was relatively disappointing in his time with the team, released this past March as the team opted to roll in a new direction with new signings Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts.
Though Jack had previously announced his retirement, he opted to return to the Steelers practice squad following season-ending injuries to Holcomb and teammate Kwon Alexander.
