Prior to Huddersfield Town, Matty Godden puts Coventry City’s demands first.
Coventry City’s Matty Godden feels confident ahead of their Championship game against Huddersfield Town, according to the most recent news from CoventryLive.

In response to his disappointment with the loss to Cardiff City, Matty Godden has urged Coventry City to play with more bravery against Huddersfield Town.

Despite Godden scoring twice, Mark Robins’ team lost 3-2 in the Welsh capital on Tuesday night. The striker expressed his dismay that the two goals ultimately had no meaning.

“Yeah, obviously disappointed,” he replied. It doesn’t matter if I’ve already scored two goals; it’s a dismal night anyhow.

“We probably could have sped it up and been little bit braver, but it’s one of those nights. We need to dust ourselves down now and really go into Monday positive and looking to get the three points.”

After seven games, the Sky Blues have only won once and lost twice. Ahead of Monday night’s clash (8pm), City will be looking to embrace the opportunity and really kickstart their campaign in the push for promotion.

A win would see them go above the Terriers with just one point separating the sides. But he has warned that in order to do so, the team must do better collectively to avoid conceding from set-pieces.

“We try and pride ourselves on defending set pieces and we’ve conceded one the other night and one tonight so it’s disappointing,” Godden added. “It’s a great ball in from the left, but we should defend that better.”

Despite a disappointing conclusion to Tuesday night, it was Godden’s fifth league-leading goal. In order to help City secure the three points in front of their supporters at the CBS Arena on Monday night, he is motivated to continue his goal-scoring form.

Godden continued, “I know my value, I know my value to the club, and I know my value to the squad. I’m a confident boy, like I said, and I’ll do what I do. When I have the chance, I’ll put the ball in the goal.

“I always have and always will act in that manner. Yes, after the game is over and we don’t receive the three points, it doesn’t matter.
