How Nottingham Forest responded to comments made by a man earning £379,000 per week regarding
In response to what Pep Guardiola stated about Nottingham Forest before their Saturday Premier League matchup with Manchester City, Nottingham Forest has finally responded.
On Twitter, the Reds tweeted a greeting to the Citizens.
After Pep Guardiola’s remarks, what did Nottingham Forest convey to Manchester City? Let’s look at this…
What’s the premise?
The Spaniard was eager to emphasize the importance of the match on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium, pointing out that Nottingham Forest is a two-time champion of Europe.
That is undoubtedly accurate, yet some have criticized Guardiola for being snarky because it isn’t particularly current.
In 1979 and 1980, Nottingham Forest won both of its European Championships.
The £378,846-a-week Guardiola was quoted by Sky Sports as saying: “We have Nottingham Forest. There are two Champions League champions. They have more Champions League victories than we have. This is the reality; I’m not kidding.
Now that Nottingham Forest has responded, it appears that those present at the City Ground did not interpret the remarks as a satirical jab.
When responding to video of Guardiola speaking following Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League, Steve Cooper’s team simply tweeted “respect” on Twitter.
The tweet from Nottingham Forest is shown below.
Nottingham Forest could be a potential banana skin for Manchester City
While some might expect Manchester City to wipe the floor with Nottingham Forest – which Guardiola’s side are certainly capable of doing – Cooper’s men have proven to be a tough nut to crack so far this season.
Nottingham Forest have already defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and went 2-0 up against Manchester United at Old Trafford before Erik ten Hag’s side fought back to win 3-2.
The Reds also gave Arsenal a tough time in their 2-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium in August.
Of course, Manchester City have some of the best players around, but the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White are capable of causing the Citizens all kinds of problems if they bring their A-games to the Etihad Stadium.
