After once again providing some forceful responses at a fans’ forum event for the club over the week, he earned more positive headlines, and his attitude continues to win over admirers throughout the footballing world. The Australian would want nothing more than to give his squad their first Premier League victory at the Emirates Stadium since 2010.

There is no better way to describe the team’s readiness for the game. Alejo Veliz, a summer signing for Tottenham, was permitted to play for the Under-21 team during the week as he develops his match sharpness. The Argentine forward was injured upon arriving at the Cub and has been sidelined up to this date.

After participating in his first club training session last week, he might be included in the squad chosen for the brief trip across north London. Although he hasn’t yet joined a senior team matchday group, that might all change.

Rodrigo Bentancur, a star from South America, is also present with him on the practice field. The Uruguayan midfielder continued his lengthy injury recovery last week by participating in the squad warm-ups. Although he isn’t yet ready to participate fully in the session, his participation is another encouraging development on the way to a comeback.

“Rehab it is the toughest bit. Talk to any player, it is not just the work but the solitary element of it. He was buzzing yesterday but it is good,” Postecoglou said ahead of the win over Sheffield United win last week.

“Fair to say he has a fair bit of work to do and great to have him involved. He was dejected of course when we had to pull him out of it after half an hour.”

Bentancur is one of just four players expected to miss the game against Arsenal as fellow long-term absentees Bryan Gil and Ryan Sessegnon remain out. There has been no recent update on their fitness and even once back it will take some time to get into the swing of things let alone be ready to make an impact on what is already a settled squad at Hotspur Way.

There was a huge blow handed to Postecoglou and his men during the week though as Croatian midfielder Ivan Perisic was ruled out for what is expected to be the remainder of the season after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament injury in training. The 34-year-old has featured from the bench in every game so far this season and has been a key part of the senior squad as an experienced member.

A statement from the club announced the shock news, saying: “Perisic has suffered a complex Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in his right knee. The experienced Croatia international sustained the injury in non-contact training and will undergo surgery.

“Ivan will then commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season. Wishing you well in your recovery, Ivan.”

The former Inter and Bayern Munich man then took to Instagram himself, writing: “‘Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it or work around it.’ M. Jordan.

“I appreciate all of your help. Boar, tornado, and praying emojis all have great meaning for me. Due to his versatility in the backline, midfield, and attack, Perisic’s departure will leave a significant gap in the team. Without him, new solutions will need to be found to accommodate the spectacular comeback against Sheffield United that was started by his corner for Richarlison.
