JON BRADY - 'WE WERE NOT AT OUR BEST' - News - Northampton Town

First-time volley with keeper stranded? Barnsley’s Callum Styles shows how it’s done

Barnsley’s Callum Styles shows serious technique sending a Lee Burge clearance back past the keeper and into the Northampton net.

Jon Brady felt his side were ‘ruthlessly punished’ as he reflected on Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Barnsley.

“There are no excuses, we can’t give away goals like we did today,” he said.

“Our players are giving everything and the attitude and work rate is good but you get ruthlessly punished for any little mistakes at this level.

“We took the game to Barnsley but we are not being aggressive enough in both boxes.

“Liam Roberts played well and made some really good saves but Barnsley didn’t give anything away. We have got to work harder for everything at this level.

“There is disappointment and a little bit of anger in the changing room, everyone worked their socks off today against a really good side but we gave away two very poor goals.”

“We are going through a rough period of results but the performances are strong. We just need to stop gifting teams goals.

“Everyone expects us to go down this season but I’m going to face that head on and attack it.”
