NEWS FLASH: Spurs player may be in line for ‘totally fresh’ long-term disability

Report: Spurs star could be set for ‘completely fresh’ long-term deal

Sources are claiming Tottenham Hotspur will offer captain Heung-min Son a new long-term deal with the club, rather than simply extending his current contract by a year as previously suggested.

Since the departure of Harry Kane this summer, it’s safe to say Heung-min Son is the main attraction at Tottenham now.

The South Korean star has now been with the club since 2015, and was recently appointed captain by new manager, Ange Postecoglou.

With performances and results on the pitch leaving the fan base happy, and the whole Spurs squad appearing to be enjoying themselves too, it would look as though Son’s tenure as skipper is off to a great start.

The 31-year-old has chipped in with some hard-working displays, and even bagged a hat-trick in the 5-2 win against Burnley earlier this season.

Son’s current contract runs through to 2025, but it has been reported that Spurs are keen to trigger a one-year extension on that deal (Telegraph).

Heung-min Son could get a new Spurs contract

However, rather than adding a year on to his existing deal, it is now suggested by Football Insider that the club are eager to open talks with Son over a ‘completely fresh’ new contract instead, in order to tie their prized asset down long-term.

Apparently, Tottenham are now “ready to open talks” with their captain about the prospect of a new contract. The club are thought to see Son as the “main man” and want to ensure he sticks around.

It is thought Spurs hope to “reflect the forward’s importance” to the club by offering him a “completely fresh” deal. The plan, it seems, is to use that one-year extension option, before discussing a new contract with Son in the “near future.”

Sonny has proven time and time again just how important he is to this club, and how important the club is to him, too. He deserves anything he wants, and it would be really nice for him to stay at Spurs until he is ready to retire. Hopefully, this deal can make that happen.
