Oldham Athletic provides an update on its manager hunt
Oldham Athletic has promised its supporters that a “thorough” hiring procedure will be used to select the team’s new manager.
Numerous applications have been submitted by Latics for the open position at Boundary Park, and the board has approved the procedure that should be followed in their hunt for David Unsworth’s replacement.
Unsworth was chosen in September of last year to succeed John Sheridan, but due to a shaky start to the campaign, he quit the team on Sunday, just days before his first birthday, following a 3-0 loss at Bromley.
Steve Thompson, the team’s director of recruitment, was appointed as temporary manager and oversaw a 2-0 victory over York City in the middle of the week to snap a seven-game losing streak.
The board of Oldham Athletic can announce that numerous applications have been received for the open job of first team manager, according to a club statement.
“A recruitment process was decided upon at a Board meeting conducted this week and will be pursued over the ensuing weeks. The Board wants to make sure the selection process is fair and that all candidates’ qualifications are given due consideration.
Steve Thompson will continue to oversee first team matters on an interim basis in the interim. The Board appreciates Steve’s efforts and wants to express its gratitude.
The goal of the club is to schedule an appointment as soon as feasible after the identified process is finished.
