Aston Villa’s striker’s departure is justified as a devastating transfer blow
Caleb Chukwuemeka’s search for a new club after becoming a free agent is hampered by the most recent information on Aston Villa.
Former Aston Villa striker Caleb Chukwuemeka is on trial with Bristol City. Chukwuemeka, the older brother of Chelsea and ex-Villa hotshot Carney, spent two years at Villa, having signed from Northampton Town in 2021, and made just one first team appearance in the League Cup.
Villa reportedly beat the likes of Tottenham and Rangers to his signature two years ago, but the striker was unable to progress as expected during his stay at Villa Park. After being named in Villa’s retained list back in June he was absent from the official published list of contracted players this month.

Over the past two years, he spent time on loan at Livingston and Crawley Town, with Crawley potentially having a purchase commitment. He hasn’t been included in Villa’s Premier League squad list this year because they didn’t include him. He is now reported to be without a club, and that appears to still be the case as he has suffered a devastating setback in his search for a squad.
On Monday, Chukwuemeka played for Bristol City’s under-21 team in their 2-0 Professional Development League victory over Ipswich Town. He participated in the game for 45 minutes as a trialist for the Robins, but he had no significant impact.
That’s according to our colleagues at Bristol Live, who also say the Ashton Gate club are “unlikely” to offer the 21-year-old a contract. So the search goes on for Caleb to land himself a new club.
