We have seen a tendency when managers have performed very well at a particular club and move to a bigger club, they try and sign a number of their trusted proteges from the previous club for the new club.

Erik ten Hag has done this a lot since moving to Manchester United signing the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Andre Onana – players he knows well from his time managing Ajax.

However, success at one club does not necessarily mean instant success at another one and no one will know this better than Donny van de Beek who was such a crucial cog in Ten Hag’s Ajax team but hardly features for Man United.

Thankfully, Ange Postecoglou has not taken that approach at Tottenham. He hasn’t really looked at Celtic players for the North London club but all that could be about to change in the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Record, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer a way out for out-of-favour Al Ittihad forward Jota as they look to negotiate a loan deal with the Saudi Arabian club.

Ange Postecoglou rejected the opportunity to bring Jota to Tottenham Hotspur.

While one would normally be sceptical of Postecoglou going down the Erik ten Hag way, with Jota, it seems to make some sense. The winger is undoubtedly talented and we can take advantage of his situation at Al Ittihad.

Jota was signed but not registered in the squad to play the league games and finds his career stalling. For a player who showed so much promise in the Scottish league, he deserves a way out and he can add valuable depth to us.

Especially doing this signing on loan is not going to hurt us in any way. If Jota performs, we would be getting value without spending much. If he does not turn out as expected, we can always cut ties with him
