Tottenham Hotspur continues to be linked with the move for the Burkina Faso international Edmond Tapsoba.
The 24-year-old was linked with the move to the North London club during the summer transfer window as well but a transfer did not materialise. A report from Football Insider claims that Tottenham continue to keep tabs on the Bundesliga defender and it remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him in January.
The defender recently signed a contract extension with the German club until 2028 and he is likely to cost the premium in January. Ange Postecoglou is keen on signing a central defender, especially with the future of Eric Dier uncertain. The 29-year-old has fallen down the pecking order and he could leave the club midway through the season.
The England international needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and moving away from Spurs would be ideal for him. The 29-year-old is versatile enough to operate as a central defender, a defensive midfielder as well as a full-back. It will be difficult to replace the utility man in January and Tapsoba could prove to be a superb option.
The opportunity to play in the Premier League will be a tempting proposition for the 24-year-old defender and he is likely to be keen on the move if the two clubs can agree on a transfer.
Bayer Leverkusen will not want to sell a key player midway through the season and Tottenham will have to pay well over the odds to change their stance.
