Leandro Trossard’s injury has Arsenal reeling, and Gabriel Martinelli will be missed for the North London Derby.
Arsenal have been dealt a double injury blow for the north London derby with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli both out injured.
The Gunners were already preparing for Martinelli’s absence after he picked up a hamstring knock in last week’s win away at Goodison Parkl.
He subsequently missed the Champions League clash against PSV, with Mikel Arteta claiming the Brazilian was ‘touch and go’ to face Spurs.
But he has not made the matchday squad, with his back-up Trossard, who has scored in the last two games, also omitted by Arteta.
A statement from Arsenal on the Belgian read: “Leandro Trossard misses out today due to a slight muscle issue.”
Arteta has opted for a front three of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.
It remains to be seen who out of Jesus and Nketiah will start from the left wing.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Arteta has revealed that Trossard felt a niggle in training on Saturday.
The Spaniard said: “He felt something, he felt a muscle tightness yesterday in in training and he wasn’t fit enough to play the game.”
Arteta was then asked by Gary Neville whether Trossard’s injury could suit Arsenal in being able to play both Jesus and Nketiah.
To which he stated: “Yeah, Gabby has played in all positions up front, he’s very adaptable, he feels comfortable, he gives us different things.
“Let’s see how it goes today.”
Pressed whether he considered Kai Havertz to slot in instead, Arteta remarked: “Yeah, a lot of hadaches!
“That’s a good thing, that means the quality that there is in the squad, there is always difficult questions to make.”
