Pep Guardiola claims a player worth £43 million to Man City will sit out the game against Nottingham Forest.

Bernardo Silva won’t be available for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League game against Nottingham Forest, according to Pep Guardiola.

During City’s opening Champions League group matchup against Red Star Belgrade, the midfielder was compelled off the field.

But as the Citizens prepare to resume domestic play this weekend, Guardiola has provided some information on Silva and how long he’s expected to remain sidelined.

Speaking in his recent press conference ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Forest, Guardiola had this to say about Silva and his injury.

He said: “It’s a little injury, a week-10 days he will be out.”

Prior to Tuesday’s European match, the 29-year-old had featured in five games for City, scoring one goal and delivering one assist, completing the full 90 minutes on four occasions, which shows how important he is for the team.

Having scored his first goal and provided his first assist of the campaign in City’s previous league match against West Ham United, this shows why Silva will be a big miss for his side against Forest, who have picked up seven points from their opening five league games of the season.

However, with Guardiola saying it’s not a serious injury that Silva, who the club paid £43m to sign back in 2017, picked up in midweek and could only be out of action for 10 days is a positive overall for City.
