Northampton Town not fearful of ‘big’ Reading FC visit
Northampton Town boss Jon Brady insists that the off-field situation at Reading is not of his team’s concern and that they don’t fear the visit of the Royals this evening.
In the first league meeting between the sides for over 20 years, more than 1200 supporters are travelling to Sixfields hoping Reading can earn their first away win in 16 league matches.
Protests against owner Dai Yongge have caught the headlines more than the on-field performances for Ruben Selles’ side, with a drab 0-0 draw against Burton Albion on Saturday keeping the Royals in the relegation zone.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s clash, Brady said he respects Reading but is not fearful.
“Reading are a big club at this level but whoever the opposition is that doesn’t change our approach,” he said. “We know we need to work hard in every game and if we can put in another strong performance we will give ourselves every chance.
“We don’t fear anyone and I think you can see that with how we play. What is happening at Reading off the pitch is not our concern, the full focus is on us and what we do.”
The Cobblers won promotion from League Two last season and sit above Reading heading into the match.
