2023 NRL Signings Tracker: Bulldogs extend Kiraz; Harper joins Eels
Bulldogs winger Jacob Kiraz has signed a new three-year deal which will see him stay at Belmore until the end of the 2027 season.
The Lebanon international began his playing career at the St John’s Eagles before making his NRL debut for the Bulldogs in 2022.
“Jacob has been one of the shining lights of the past couple of years and thoroughly deserves his new contract,” General Manager of Football Phil Gould said.
Sea Eagles centre Morgan Harper will join the Parramatta Eels on a one-year deal from the start of the 2024 season.
Born in New Zealand, Morgan has been selected twice for the Māori All Stars representative team and has played a total 56 first-grade games since making his debut with Canterbury in 2019 prior to his arrival at Manly in 2021.
Also at Parramatta, Andrew Davey has announced his retirement from the NRL following advice from medical experts.
Davey debuted in 2020 with the Eels and then had two seasons at Manly and one at the Bulldogs before returning to the blue and golds midway through 2023.
The 31-year-old played 44 games across five seasons.
Former Dragon Garreth Widdop has also announced his retirement from professional rugby league after an impressive 13-year career.
The 34-year-old English international played 195 games across stints with the Storm and Dragons, including a premiership with Melbourne in 2012, before finishing his career in the Super League.
Wests Tigers prop Alex Seyfarth has signed a new deal that will see him remain at Concord until at least the end of the 2025 season.
The 24-year-old has played 47 NRL games since debuting early in the 2020 season and said he was “looking forward to having a strong pre-season and being injury-free” after spending last pre-season recovering from a pectoral injury.
Wests Tigers also re-signed fan favourite Alex Twal until at least the end of the 2027 season, adding an additional three years to his current deal, as well as extending centre Starford To’a through to the end of the 2026 season.
South Sydney have extended edge forward Keaon Koloamatangi for a further two seasons until the end of 2026. The 25-year-old Tongan international has played 82 NRL matches for the Rabbitohs since making his first grade debut in 2020.
The Mascot Jets junior, who made his State of Origin debut for New South Wales in Origin III this year, said he has aspirations to win a premiership with South Sydney before he retires.
“We had a bit to think about going into November 1 and I wanted to get something done before then with the club,” Koloamatangi said.
“There’s massive belief here that we can win comps. We’ve been very close in recent years so I didn’t want to leave and throw away all of the hard work we’ve done, as well as the hard work we have in front of us. That’s not in my DNA.
“The Rabbitohs are always in the forefront of my mind and I want to win at least one comp here before I retire.”
Young Titans flyer Tony Francis has committed to the Gold Coast for a further two seasons and will move into the top 30 squad in 2024. Yet to make his NRL debut, the 20-year-old had a stellar year for the Burleigh Bears in 2023, scoring 21 tries across 22 games, including a hat-trick in the Hostplus Cup grand final.
The Titans have also elevated young forward trio Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui, Ryan Foran and Josiah Pahulu to their top 30 squad when the trio returns to pre-season training in November.
This comes after the club activated their club option and extended rookie forward Jacob Alick for the 2024 season.
Warriors centre Brayden Wiliame has announced his retirement after an injury-troubled season with the club.
The 30-year-old former Fiji international had another season to run on his two-year deal but after playing just two games this season, has decided to call time on his 10-year NRL career.
