‘Oh my God!’ – Gary Neville makes bold Everton prediction after seeing new stadium

Everton’s new stadium remains on schedule and the club is confident it will be completed ‘in the final months’ of next year

Gary Neville was left in awe upon seeing Everton’s new stadium for the first time and believes the club could become a force once they move into their Bramley-Moore Dock home.

Everton announced plans to build a new ground on the banks of the River Mersey in July 2021. It will them move away from Goodison Park, which has hosted more top-flight games than any other stadium in England.

The Blues confirmed last week that the new stadium project remains on schedule and that they are confident it will be completed “in the final months” of next year. However, because the new facility will be complete midway through the 2024/25 campaign, Everton could complete next season at Goodison before moving.

In a scene filmed for the Overlap on the ferry heading across the Merseyside, former Liverpool winger John Barnes points out Everton’s new ground to Neville, who says: “Oh my God! Is that Everton’s new stadium?”

Before he added: “I didn’t even realise they had started building it. They are going to be some force in this city!”

The clip then shows Neville being shown the Liver Building by Barnes, and he is left shocked when informed by Carragher that the building is owned by Farhad Moshiri.

Neville said: “Is that the Liver Building there? Who owns that?” To which Carragher replied: “Everton. Moshiri bought it, I think,” with the former Manchester United man then saying: “He owns half your city; how can that happen?”
