Kurelic: On the official visitors and more from an extended and important visit weekend
On the official visitors to Ohio State and more from an extended and important visit weekend for the Buckeyes.
1) I was at the Bellefontaine – Granville 3rd round playoff game at London High School on Friday night. The evening started off well. While driving into the media parking lot someone said “hello Bill” that I had not seen for a long time – in fact did not recognize right away – DJ Jones. Jones played tight end for Lebanon (Ohio) High School in the early 1990’s and eventually was a starter for the Buckeyes. His son Isaiah, a linebacker, was in the London class of 2022 and signed with Indiana. It’s always good seeing guys again that I covered when they were in high school, and DJ was truly a great guy to talk to when he was a recruit.
As far as how the game went, Bellefontaine entered with a 10-2 record while Granville was 12-0, and the teams were pretty evenly matched thanks to an effective Granville passing game. Ohio State 2025 quarterback commitment Tavien St. Clair threw a 48-yard touchdown bomb on the first possession of the game and connected for a 31-yard TD late in the third quarter and Bellefontaine went on to win 29-21. Overall St. Clair completed 13 of 22 passes for 215 yards and those two touchdowns. It was a cold night and there were at least two or three of St. Clair’s passes that were on the mark but dropped.
Nashville (Tenn.) Christian Top247 2026 quarterback Jared Curtis — 247Sports No. 2 ranked prospect in the sophomore class — visited Ohio State for the first time on Saturday, a visit highlighted by the Buckeyes dominant victory over Michigan State. This was a trip that Curtis very much looked forward to, and it exceeded expectations.
“It was amazing there, for sure,” Curtis told 247Sports.
