Joe Burrow Confident in Bengals Weapons if Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins Can’t Play Against Texans
CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday’s practice. It’s unclear if he’ll play on Sunday against the Texans.
Star wide-out Ja’Marr Chase missed all of Wednesday’s session after landing hard on his back during Cincinnati’s 24-18 win over Buffalo. Will the Bengals be without their two top weapons for their Week 10 matchup with the Texans?
Joe Burrow expressed confidence in the guys behind Higgins and Chase on Wednesday.
“I’m confident in all those guys to be able to do their job,” Burrow said. “When their opportunities arise, they’re gonna take advantage of them. That’s what this offense is built on. I’m gonna see the coverage and I’m gonna put the ball where I think it’s supposed to go. I’m not always going to be right, but I’m gonna have the trust in my guys to go make plays.”
Burrow made those comments before media knew about Higgins’ injury. He completed passes to eight different players against the Bills, including Chase and Higgins.
The Bengals role players have gotten going over Cincinnati’s four-game winning streak. Tight ends Irv Smith Jr., Tanner Hudson and Drew Sample combined for 10 receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns in their win over Buffalo.
Andrei Iosivas caught red zone touchdowns in their Week 7 win over Seattle and Week 9 win over San Francisco.
Those guys will have to step up if the Bengals are shorthanded at wide receiver against the Texans. Burrow wasn’t asked about Higgins because media didn’t know about the injury at the time, but he did share his thoughts on Chase’s status.
