Padres Free Agent Starting Pitching Target Signs With NL East Squad
Last season with the Severino posted an ERA of 6.65 and a WHIP of 1.65. He did look much better toward the end of the season, allowing more than three runs just once.
Severino was one of the better pitchers in baseball just a few years ago, so he will be looking to boost his value with the Mets. He can then reenter the free agent market next offseason, hopefully, with much better production this season.
The run on starting pitching has begun, and the market is going crazy. Severino gets $13 million, Lance Lynn got $11 million and Kyle Gibson for $12 million showing the need around the league.
San Diego will now need to look in a different direction for starting pitching help, with the expectation that they will lose multiple starters this offseason. They have a lot of work to do, but with the winter meeting starting soon, expect San Diego to be very active.
