Padres Rumors: Insider Predicts Blake Snell Signs Massive 6-Year Deal With NL West Rival
One of the few things that went right for the San Diego Padres in 2023 was the production of starting pitcher Blake Snell. He helped keep the Padres afloat throughout their season struggles and was easily their best pitcher all year.
Snell proved that he was one of the better pitchers in the game this past season, and it saw him take home the National League Cy Young award. He was simply dominant all year long, posting an ERA of 2.25 for the season.
His performance is going to see him earn a massive payday this winter, and there will be no shortage of teams lining up for his services. He is one of the top pitchers on the open market, and there is expected to be a battle for starting pitching this winter.
MLB writer Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report is predicting that Snell will sign with an NL West team, and reunite with a familiar face.
“Projected Price Tag: Six years, $180 million, Projected Landing Spot: San Francisco Giants”
Per Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report
Snell signing with the San Francisco Giants would be a huge blow to the Padres, but it would give him a chance to play under former Padres manager Bob Melvin once again. Having to see Snell multiple times over the next few years would be awful for the Friars, so hopefully he signs elsewhere.
But it does make sense for the Giants, and he would instantly create a dynamic duo with Logan Webb. Those two would be one of the better one-two punches in the game today, so that could intrigue Snell when choosing his next team.
