NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons

SB Nation Reacts Results: Jaren Hall is the choice at quarterback

It’s time to take a look at our most recent round of SB Nation Reacts results for our Minnesota Vikings, because we have the answers to the questions that we asked earlier this week about our favorite team. At least one of these questions has an answer that I found a bit surprising, so let’s get to the answers here.

Our first question for this week is the standard question about how confident you are in the direction of the team. Not surprisingly, after a couple of losses, the latter of which came in rather embarrassing fashion, things have taken a bit of a dip.

This week, only 44% of our respondents said that they were confident that the team is heading in the right direction. That’s a huge drop from where things were before the Denver game, when things were up at 92%. With the Vikings on the bye this week I don’t think we’ll see much of a change going into the Raiders game, but hopefully after the Raiders game things can get back on the right track.

We also asked you who you thought should be starting at quarterback for the Vikings when they head to Las Vegas in Week 14 (and, presumably, going forward). This one came as a bit of a surprise to me. . .not because of who got the nod from our readers, but because of the overwhelming nature of the response.

Of those that responded to the survey, a full 64% of them feel that rookie Jaren Hall should be returned to the starting quarterback job when the Vikings next take the field. As we know, Hall started against Atlanta and was knocked out on the Vikings’ last offensive play of the first quarter, which gave rise to the Josh Dobbs era. 20% of our readers think that Dobbs should continue to be the starter, while 15% think the keys should be turned over to Nick Mullens.

Honestly, I think that Hall is the right answer at this point. Of the three quarterbacks, he’s really the only one that has a shot at being a part of the Vikings’ long-term future. Even if the team does bring Kirk Cousins back in 2024 (and beyond), Hall should be groomed to be his backup. Dobbs might give the Vikings the best chance to win now, provided he can stop turning the ball over, but if you’re looking at things from more of a 30,000-foot view, Hall is probably the best choice.

Those are the results of our SB Nation Reacts results for this week, ladies and gentlemen. We’ll be back next week with another round of questions about our favorite team.
