A round-up of the latest Newcastle United transfer news and rumours

A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer news on Tuesday, October 24.

Real Madrid midfielder seen as ‘viable option’ for January move

Fichajes.net claims Newcastle United have emerged as a candidate to sign Real Madrid midfielder and former Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos. The Spaniard signed a new deal at the La Liga side in June, taking his current contract at the Bernanbeu through to the summer of 2027.

However, the 27-year-old has played just 73 minutes of action for Carlo Ancelotti’s side since returning from injury in September. Los Blancos still view Ceballos as a key part of their squad, but the recent report claims Sandro Tonali’s situation could lead to a Magpies’ move for the midfielder.

It adds Eddie Howe’s side are willing to make a €20million bid to sign Ceballos, but doesn’t claim whether Real or Ceballos would be open to a move. The midfielder had a loan spell with Arsenal between 2019 and 2021 but returned to La Liga at the end of that spell.

Football Insider claims two Newcastle United deals have collapsed as a result of the Sandro Tonalil betting scandal. The report claims the Magpies had plans to sign a young forwards and a centre-back in January, but those plans are said to have been put on the backburner as a result of the Italian’s ongoing investigation.

Eddie Howe’s side are reportedly set to look elsewhere, with filling Tonali’s void seen as a top priority for the Magpies. No targets are named in the recent report in relation to the scrapped deals, but Kalvin Phillips is once again mentioned as a January replacement.
