Recruiting Roundup: Michigan impresses four-star Boise State WR after visiting for Ohio State game
Plus, a four-star DL expands on The Game and a four-star edge plans to visit in a few weeks.
The college football regular season is officially over, but that doesn’t mean recruiting is slowing down. In fact, this is around the time of the year it starts to pick up a little bit with the early signing period nearing.
There’s plenty of updates to get to after more than 70 players were on the sideline to watch Michigan beat Ohio State for the third year in a row.
Boise State WR commit Michigan is hoping to flip expands on visit
The Wolverines have had their sights set on 2024 four-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair for a long time, despite committing to Boise State in August. A runner-up for Bair in the recruiting process, the Wolverines have been monitoring the situation with Boise State, especially after head coach Andy Avalos was fired a few weeks ago.
In an effort to likely sway him from his home state, Bair was at the Big House on Saturday, and was able to talk with wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy. He spoke more about that to The Wolverine’s Zach Libby ($).
“We got to sit down and go through what he felt my role would be on the team,” Bair said. “Obviously, Michigan doesn’t throw the ball a million times a game, so he doesn’t sugarcoat that at all. No NFL team does that, either. (Michigan’s) priority is to win football games, so they do what they can to win a football game. He showed me a lot of Roman Wilson and the things that he does. I think our speed is very similar. He (also) showed me a lot of plays that utilize (Wilson’s) speed and how that works really well for them. That was a really good takeaway from the visit.”
Bair was pretty candid in this interview, acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding Jim Harbaugh’s future and the sign-stealing scandal. He expanded on the conversation he had with HarbaughHarbaugh.
“Obviously, the situation (Harbaugh’s) in is kind of confusing to him as well,” Bair said. “He kind of talked about the situation and what he thought things were going to look like. He also didn’t try to make anything up. He said he didn’t know what was going on and didn’t know what the future holds. Nobody knows what the future holds. But he did a good job of assuring me that (Michigan is) where he wants to be. I don’t think anyone wants to be anywhere else right now, so that was great to hear.”
