Brennan Johnson has signed an initial five-year deal with Tottenham with the option of a further 12 months, Mail Sport can reveal.

Tottenham confirmed the arrival of Johnson from Nottingham Forest late on Friday night after agreeing to pay £47.5million for the forward.

Spurs announced that Johnson has signed a deal that runs until 2029.

But it is understood Johnson’s initial contract runs until 2028 but includes an option to extend the deal by another year.

The Wales international was always the club’s No 1 forward target this summer and his arrival comes as a major boost to Ange Postecoglou.

Johnson was accompanied by his father David, himself a former Wales international, and his representatives from Unique Sports Group – Andy Niedzwiecki and Will Salthouse – as he arrived at the club’s Enfield HQ to complete his move.

‘It is a dream for me to come to a club with this status,’ said Johnson.

‘The fans are great, a new manager has just come in and the players are behind him. At this point, it was the perfect decision for me.

‘I have seen the games against Bournemouth and Brentford the style of play has been fantastic. All players buy into the one who can see a good team.

‘It’s something I want to be a part of.’

He added: ‘As a player, I like to encourage the fans. I’m direct in my game and I’m fast. I always try to get as many goals and layups as possible, but I always work hard for the team.’
