Roy Hodgson hails Crystal Palace recruitment under Dougie Freedman | beIN SPORTS

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson delivers injury news on Eze and Olise ahead of Nottingham Forest

Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze has suffered a “serious” hamstring injury.

We revealed on Tuesday that the Greenwich-born playmaker could be set for a six-week spell on the sidelines.

The Eagles, who beat Manchester United last Saturday, host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League tomorrow evening.

Eze had started every game in the top flight under Hodgson before succumbing to injury.

“He has a hamstring problem,” confirmed Hodgson.

“He has had a scan on it. We will have to wait on a second scan, but it’s a serious injury.

“I would prefer not to say because I am optimistic on these things. The severity of the injury might suggest it will be as long as that.

“To be fair, the medical staff could be working very, very hard to shave off any time from a prognosis for the injury. Yeah, it was a blow for us.”

Michael Olise, who signed a new contract over the summer with an improved release clause to fend off interest from Chelsea, has been missing since the start of the season after having hamstring surgery,

“That’s another one where we are going to wait on,” added Hodgson.

“Two of our most creative players we are going to have to wait on for a period of time, and it could even be a considerable period of time. So we are going to be dependent now on the players coming into their places to do such a good job and to be fair, they have been doing that.

“I have been very satisfied by the way the team has played and as a squad. There is no point complaining about injuries, they do happen, and you must never feel sorry about yourself.
