Watch Ohio State offer Luka Gilbert and Cam Thomas in action Friday night
Bucknuts was in attendance Friday night to see one of the top 2025 Ohio players the Buckeyes have offered a scholarship, tight end Luka Gilbert from West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West in action as well as his 2026 linebacker/athlete teammate Cam Thomas, who is also on the Buckeyes’ radar screen. Lakota West defeated Cincinnati (Ohio) Western Hills 69-0 in a first-round playoff match-up.
With the score being 49-0 at halftime, Gilbert played only in the first half and did not have a ball thrown his way. In fact, Lakota West rarely threw the ball. Gilbert was, however, very good with his blocking.
Thomas, who will be back at Ohio State when the Buckeyes host Michigan State on Nov. 11, also played in only the first half. He played well and made a number of tackles, mostly lining up as a down defensive end.
The 6-foot-7 and 233-pound Gilbert has a dozen plus scholarship offers. In addition to Ohio State, his list of offers also includes Michigan, Miami, Boston College, Kentucky, Pitt, Rutgers, Duke, Connecticut, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Nevada and Louisville.
Gilbert is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country’s No. 156 overall 2025 prospect, the No. 4 tight end and the No. 7 prospect in Ohio.
The 6-foot-2 and 200-pound Thomas has a list of offers that includes Michigan, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech and Marshall.
