I wasn’t fully healthy’ – Heung-min Son on whether he will be fit for next Spurs game
Heung-min Son has opened up on his fitness troubles following Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Liverpool at the weekend.
The Spurs forward admitted that he wasn’t fully fit heading into the clash against Mo Salah and co, but wanted to make himself available because of how much he loves the club.
This would explain why Ange Postecoglou decided to take the South Korean off early, despite Spurs needing to find a goal against a nine-man Liverpool.
Son is confident he will be fit to start for Tottenham
Son had already netted Tottenham’s opener, which was his sixth goal of the Premier League season after just seven matches. Only Erling Haaland has a better tally than that this season (Official PL).
With Spurs not playing in Europe and getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup, the team only have one match to deal with per week until the new year.
As such, Son is confident that he will be okay to face Luton Town away next weekend as Tottenham look to keep pace with the likes of Man City and Arsenal.
Son told Sports Seoul reporters at the media mixed zone following the match (30/9/23 – 20:00): “I think I will be okay since there’s a week until the next game.
“As Ange said, I wasn’t fully healthy, so I think he kept an eye on the situation. There were some similar situations yesterday during training.
“The manager asked me, ‘Are you going to be okay?’ and I replied ‘Yes, I can say I’m ok!’. I think the manager knows I will not say ‘I cannot play’ because of how special I think the team is.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
Son is willing to run through brick walls for Tottenham – we have always known this. There is a difference between playing with a knock and ignoring an injury though. After he stayed silent last season and his form suffered as a result, hopefully he doesn’t aggravate anything this year.
