Bengals Injury Roundup: Ja’Marr Chase Cincinnati’s Lone DNP, While Pittsburgh Deals With Multiple Injuries

Cincinnati needs to pick up its first divisional win of the season on Saturday.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals’ only player to miss Wednesday’s practice due to injury was Ja’Marr Chase (shoulder) as he reportedly isn’t playing this week due to the joint separation.

Outside of the star wideout, Cincinnati’s avoided anything popping up thus far. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh’s safety corps is shredded with Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) ruled out this week and Trenton Simpson (neck) also missing Wednesday’s session.

Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett (ankle) has a chance to play after logging a limited Wednesday session.

Check out reports for both teams.

Steelers DL Cameron Heyward clears concussion protocol, expected to play vs. Bengals

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive captain Cameron Heyward progressed through NFL concussion protocol and is on track to play in Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

A message posted to the X (formerly Twitter) account of Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten read that Heyward, a three-time All Pro defensive tackle, “has been cleared by an independent neurological consultant.”

Heyward entered protocol after this past Saturday’s loss at the Indianapolis Colts. He played 75% of the Steelers’ defensive snaps in the game and there was no obvious known hit absorbed or play during which he might have been injured.

Heyward was listed as a limited practice participant Tuesday and practiced fully Wednesday, per the league-mandated injury report. He is expected to address reporters following Thursday’s practice.

The 34-year-old Heyward, a 13-year veteran, missed six games earlier this season because of a groin injury. He has 30 tackles (23 solo, six for loss), two sacks and three QB hits this season.
