Paul Warne handed double injury boost ahead of Shrewsbury trip

Derby County manager Paul Warne has had a number of injury issues so far this season, which has had an impact on their performance in League One.

They have had the likes of Max Bird, Joe Ward, Callum Elder and Kane Wilson all injured for long periods of time at the start of the season.

The injuries got that bad in the right back position to the point where Warne had to dip into the free agent market to bring in Ryan Nyambe.

But Warne will now be handed a double injury boost ahead of their trip away at Shrewsbury.

Callum Elder and Joe Ward have both been pictured in training on Derby’s X account (formerly known as Twitter).

Elder has been out with a hernia injury for the last four games, whilst Ward has been out with a knee injury.

Both were summer signings on free transfers, with Elder joining from Championship side Hull City and Ward joining from PeterborouDerby County v Oxford United - Sky Bet League One

Paul Warne now has selection headache

Having Ward and Elder back will be a huge boost for Warne, but will also provide a selection headache.

Craig Forsyth has come in for Elder in recent games and has done a stellar job, but you would imagine Elder would come back in.

Ward however may not find it as easy to come back into the side, now fighting with Wilson and Nyambe for a starting spot.

Nyambe has been arguably one of the Rams best players since joining last month, so Ward will provide another options for Warne to look at.
