REPORT: Jacksonville Jaguars Suddenly Release Quarterback

The Jacksonville Jaguars have had some issues regarding injuries to the quarterback position this season. Starter Trevor Lawrence has been dealing with multiple injuries in 2023, but they have not affected him to the point of being out for multiple weeks. Backup C.J. Beathard finished the game against the Cincinnati Bengals for Lawrence after he went out with a leg injury, which is the most time he has been out from the action. Now, the team has released one of their notable quarterbacks ahead of their week 15 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Jacksonville has released quarterback Nathan Rourke from their active roster just before their game against the Ravens. Rourke was a former CFL quarterback for the BC Lions in 2022 and even won Most Outstanding Canadian honors. He is also a two-time winner of the Jon Cornish Trophy, which is handed out annually to the top Canadian NCAA football player.

Rourke signed with Jacksonville at the beginning of this year and has been on and off of the roster all season long, which can mean that head coach Doug Pederson will sign the quarterback once again at some point. Beathard will remain as the backup to Lawrence and will be his replacement if he suffers another injury this season. Beathard has played in 30 games in his career and unanimously won the second-string position over Rourke.
