Spurs set to break bank in the bid to land Sociedad sensational midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on the Real Sociedad midfielder Brais Mendez after being impressed with his performances for the Spanish club this season.

A report from Fichajes claims that Tottenham are now planning to submit a ‘tempting proposal’ for the 26-year-old midfielder and they want him ‘at all costs’.

Mendez has established himself as a key player for Real Sociedad this season and he has contributed to five goals and five assists across all competitions. There is no doubt that he would add creativity and technical ability in the middle of the park if he joined Tottenham.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to bring in Mendez as his replacement.

The 28-year-old Denmark international has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou clearly does not fancy him as a starter anymore. It makes sense for the North London outfit to cash in on him and sign a quality replacement.

Mendez is versatile enough to operate as the central attacking midfielder as well as the central midfielder. His arrival would allow Tottenham to rotate James Maddison without a major drop in quality.

It remains to be seen whether the Spanish outfit are prepared to sanction his departure midway through the season. He is a key player for them and replacing him in January will be a difficult task.
