Former Aaron Rodgers Teammate Has Strong Opinion On Zach Wilson
It has been a miserable season for the New York Jets ever since future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on their first offensive series of the season, and they have had a huge question mark at the position since.
Zach Wilson, now in his third season, took over under center, but Tim Boyle has started in New York’s last two games.
Now that Boyle has been waived, Wilson will be the starter once again, but days ago, there were reports that he didn’t want that starting job.
Rodgers defended Wilson in the media, but James Jones, a former teammate of Rodgers, took Wilson to task for playing so poorly while on FS1’s “Speak.”
Wilson was the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and he had become a prolific player while at Brigham Young University.
In his third and final year there, he completed 73.5 percent of his pass attempts and threw for 3,692 yards and 33 touchdowns while throwing just three interceptions, and he added an additional 10 touchdowns on the ground.
But as a pro quarterback, he has only managed to connect on 56.6 percent of his pass attempts, and he has thrown four more interceptions than touchdown passes since entering the league.
The Jets are in an unenviable situation, as it is anyone’s guess when Rodgers will come back, let alone how well he will play at his advanced age, and while they have been pretty bad this season without him, they have been just good enough to not get a very high draft pick.
