Houston Texans 53-man roster projection

“I Want To Do Better,” Texans Rookie QB C.J. Stroud Is Still Not Satisfied Despite Being In MVP Discussions

Since the Houston Texans selected rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, Stroud has taken the NFL by storm. Stroud has quickly revitalized a Texans franchise that won just three games all of last season, having already won five games through 10 weeks of the 2023 campaign. Stroud’s efforts have put him in MVP discussions, but he’s still not satisfied.

“I want to do better. I want to be as complete as I can. This game is a process, and I know every week I have to bring it,” Stroud stated when asked to give his thoughts on being viewed as a potential MVP candidate.

Stroud currently leads the league in passing yards per game (291.8) and is second in the NFL in total passing yards while boasting a 15:2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. His remarkable play currently has the Texans as the No. 7 seed in the AFC playoff picture, good enough to secure a Wild Card spot, which would be the Texans first playoff appearance since 2019.

With others around the league beginning to take notice of Stroud’s historic rookie season and contributions to the Texans success, Stroud made it clear that he is appreciative of the praise he is receiving while making it known that he wouldn’t be where he is without his team.

‘It’s cool to have people recognize some of the things that I’ve done or – as a team, we’ve done. I don’t think it’s just me, but it’s really cool to see,” Stroud added during his press conference on Wednesday.

Stroud and the Texans will look to keep the good times rolling in Week 11 when they host the Arizona Cardinals.
