Former Coventry City Defender Makes National League Switch

Former Coventry City defender Brandon Mason has joined National League side Wealdstone on a free transfer, as confirmed via a statement on the club’s website.

The 26-year-old has been a free agent following his departure from Crawley Town in the summer and has dropped into England’s fifth tier for the first time during his professional career.

Mason was a product of the Watford Academy but made his name with Championship side Coventry City, where he made over 40 first-team appearances. He’s since had a spell at MK Dons, before arriving at Crawley in July 2022.

The left-back has signed a short-term contract with the National League side, where he’s able to stay close to home and compete at a side that has risen through the Non-League scene in recent seasons.

Mason has had a difficult few years since he slipped down the pecking order with Coventry City, following the rise of teenager Sam McCallum (now of Norwich City) and this move will be important to provide him with a sense of stability on the pitch.

Wealdstone have proven so far this season that they need to bolster their options from out wide and Mason is a player that can bolster both their defensive and attacking options.
